Brace for Impact: 6/25/26
Thursday's show got interrupted by a bat signal.
Brace for Impact is every Tuesday and Thursday, covering news, science, and public health from a progressive COVID-conscious perspective.
All shows should be COVID-conscious to be called progressive, but we’re not there yet. If you missed my last article detailing the show, you can find it here.
It can be listened to on Twitter…
Or on YouTube.
Let us know what you’d like us to cover on the show, or any questions you might have, in the comments, and don’t forget to give it a like and a follow if you haven’t.
The show has primarily been on Twitter, but it’s time to build up the YouTube.
Update on Novavax vs mRNA article.
This article has taken the form of a presentation, which has worked out pretty well.
Unlike the usual FDA presentations, this one is aimed at a group called ICER.
You can see the first half of the slide deck, and it’s already convincing for many.
ICER gave the presentation of their findings on Thursday, and it’s expected to be available next week for the public. Even though it’s a group of many experts, based on the material they prepared for their presentation, I can already assume they made substantial mistakes. It’s very popular to get it wrong these days.
Instead of trying to steer the ICER document, I thought it better to let them shoot their shot and then frame our presentation around theirs.
The other slides will be finished this weekend, and then, after watching their presentation, I will adjust the framing and material as necessary.
Then we are going to email everyone involved and all the people receiving the document the… corrections, just like we did with VRBPAC and ACIP.
In the past, this methodology has been extremely successful. We don’t have to prove something objectively true, at times an impossible task, but rather, open the door for a better level of protection to be available to those people we contact directly and hope they pivot, not only for themselves but also for their loved ones.
If they want that protection, then they have to make sure everyone can get it…
This generally has a positive downstream effect.
I’ll also publish a detailed article once the presentation is finished.
The goal is to push for Nuvaxovid as a 2nd-generation vaccine that should have its own series to achieve greater protection and create pressure for pediatric expansion.
Just like we’ve been doing to maximize protection for the last few years, but now for the population at large.
That’s it for now, there are a few calls to action coming up…
So, look for that email next week with Monday’s call.
